Metro Vancouver is buzzing with excitement as the filming of the Legally Blonde prequel series, 'Hillcrest Road', kicks off. This highly anticipated show, based on the beloved 2001 comedy, promises to bring back fond memories for fans while introducing a new generation to the iconic character, Elle Woods. The series, which follows Elle's journey through high school, is set to capture the formative experiences that shape her into the confident and powerful woman we know and love. The filming schedule, spanning from March 2 to June 21, will bring a unique charm to the city, with street closures and parking disruptions in Port Coquitlam. The city has announced that the paved public lot at the southeast corner of Kingsway Avenue and Shaughnessy Street will be closed from 7 a.m. on Thursday, May 14, to noon on Saturday, May 16. However, the large gravel lot next door will remain open for parking. Street parking in front of PoCo Bowl in the 2200-block of McAllister Avenue will also be unavailable on Friday. The RCMP will conduct intermittent traffic control on McAllister Avenue from 3 to 5 p.m., with a maximum of three-minute stops, and the avenue will fully close after 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. on Saturday. The PoCo Bowl will be closed all day on Friday. These closures are necessary to ensure the smooth filming process and the safety of the cast and crew. The city has assured residents that fire lanes and emergency access will remain available, and the RCMP will be on-site throughout the night. As the cameras roll, Metro Vancouver becomes a backdrop for the story of Elle's journey, offering a glimpse into the world of high school and the power of self-discovery. The filming locations, including Kingsway Avenue, Shaughnessy Street, McAllister Avenue, and the PoCo Bowl, will be transformed into a vibrant set, bringing the story to life and creating a memorable experience for both the cast and the community.
